Liezietsu calls for another CEC meeting on August 25
Dimapur, August 22 (EMN): The NPF party under the group led by Neiphiu Rio as president and Chief Minister TR Zeliang today conducted the crucial meeting of the Central Executive Council at the temporary office in Bayavü Hill Kohima has resolved to support the leadership of the two leaders.
A copy of the resolutions made during the meeting stated that, "...the NPF CEC extend its Unwavering and unflinching support to the leadership of Neiphiu Rio President and T.R Zeliang Chief Minister and further appeals to the Party men and women to come and join the majority group and support the NPF led DAN Government."
The CEC also welcomed the progress and achievements made in the Indo-Naga peace process and the party is "content" that the political dialogue has reached its final stage.
Although acknowledging the "difficulties and limitations of both the entities", it urged upon the negotiating parties to expedite the peace process with "more zeal" to bring about an "amicable and honourable solution respecting the unique Naga History at the earliest".
The CEC also endorsed the decision of NPF Legislature Party taken on July 31 to select Neiphiu Rio as the interim president.
Citing reasons for the endorsement, the CEC termed the decisions and actions of Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu was within the perimeter of "four deleterious tenets" of being "Autocratic, Dictatorial, Undemocratic and Unconstitutional".
His action of suspending and expelling party legislators have "abusively" converted the NPF Party into a "family fiefdom" .
So to save the party from further "destructions and mutilations", the NPL legislatures comprising of more than 2/3rd majority have selected Neiphiu Rio,an three time chief minister and MP (Lok Sabha) and the "tallest Naga Leader " as the interim President.
Consequently a grace period of 15 days was served to Dr. Shürhozelie to "repent and resign" from the post of the president.
The CEC also endorsed the decision to appoint Neiphio Rio as the full fledged president of the party on the expiry of the of the 15 days deadline on 13 Aug 2017 which was given to Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu to step down.
The CEC also termed the ongoing leadership dispute and the crisis in the party as" unfortunate" and , "sincerely" appealed the public not to panic but to remain "steadfast with the leadership of Shri. Neiphiu Rio President NPF and T.R Zeliang Chief Minister" to ensure "peace and tranquillity".
It also shared hope that leadership dispute shall be settled soon by the Election Commission of India.
An attempt to get the number of CEC members that attended the meeting was unsuccessful but a party worker stated that "it was beyond our expectations..." that "more than the required number of CEC members attended."
Meanwhile, the other group led by Dr. Shurhozelie Liezutsu has also called for a meeting of the Central Executive Council of the party on August 25 at the central office HQ of the party in Kohima.
In the notification he had directed all the CEC members to attend the meeting without fail.
