Dimapur, June 30 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Thursday deliberated various issues confronting the Nagas at the consultative meeting of its core committee and legislature wing at its Central Office in Kohima.
Through a press communiqué, the party stated the house had decided to vigorously pursue various issues, including “rampant corruption” of the PDA government that its legislature wing has raised with the state governor,
It stated that the party’s legislature wing would participate in the recently formed Core Committee on Naga Political Issue “provided it confined its role as active facilitator”. However, its Political Affairs Mission (PAM) would continue to exist.
The house maintained that as the government of India had acknowledged the Naga issue as political, “it has to be resolved politically by exhibiting political will”.
It went on to state that the house didn’t endorse minister Temjen Imnna Along’s recent statement that “the settlement of the Naga political issue should be within the constitution of India”, saying that it is “contrary to the spirit of the ongoing peace process”. It added that ‘such individual opinion should not stand on the way of an honourable solution’.
The house also observed one-minute silence for legislator and advisor to the government of Nagaland, Toshi Wungtung who passed away in New Delhi on Thursday and conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.
