KOHIMA — The Naga People’s Front (NPF) will hold its central office bearers’ meeting on Thursday, September 18, to fix the date and venue of its general convention, where a final decision on the proposed NPF-NDPP merger will be taken.
“The general convention will be the final one—we will seal the matter on that day,” NPF MLA Achumbemo Kikon said on the sidelines of a programme when asked about the merger.
Kikon informed that the NPF had already passed a resolution on September 6, a date which also coincided with the anniversary of the first ceasefire between the government of India and Naga national workers.

The resolution was shared with the NDPP, which, on September 12, responded positively, he said.
The NPF legislator expressed optimism for a favourable outcome when the NDPP holds its own convention.

He clarified that the NDPP must first decide collectively through its general convention, as both parties have primary and active members. Only active members are eligible to participate in such conventions.
He further stated that the NDPP convention must precede the NPF’s, after which the NPF will conduct its own general convention to finalise the merger.
