KOHIMA, OCTOBER 12: RAJYA SABHA MP KG Kenye today inaugurated the newly constructed building of NPF’s 17th Chizami Assembly constituency under Phek district in presence of local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary for Higher & Technical Education Deo Nukhu.
In his address, Kenye, who also hails from the same constituency, while reminding the gathering on the necessity of forming the cock party (Democratic Party) in the State in 1963, said the NPF is the only political party in the country which stands to protect the rights of the Naga people and also to promote our tradition and culture.
He reiterated that as one of the oldest regional parties in the county, NPF stands for welfare and uplift of the Nagas and asserted that there is no change in the party principle and ideology since its inception as Democratic Party in 1963. He added that the party even boycotted the 1998 State general elections in solidarity with calls of Naga people ‘Solution not election’.

He said realising the need for a regional party to come to power to work for the welfare of Naga people in general, the regional party came back as NPF in 2003.
Kenye called upon the NPF party functionaries to remain loyal to principles and ideologies of NPF Party and to unitedly work to retain power even in the forthcoming 2018 State elections.
