Shürhozelie Lieizietsu led NPF has filed a ‘disqualification petition’ with the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Chotisuh Sazo. Confirming the disqualification petition to this reporter over-phone this evening, NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie, who is in Delhi for tomorrow’s hearing with Election Commission of India (ECI), said, “Yes we have filed a disqualification petition with the Speaker seeking the disqualification of all the 20 dissident NPF MLAs”.
It may also recalled that on though the difference demanding change of leadership within the NPF legislators started since mid-2014, however 22 legislators under G. Kaito Aye came out openly on January 5, 2015. The group even went to the Governor staking claim to install the majority government led by Kaito.
While Chief Minister TR Zeliang sought for confidence motion in the floor of the State Assembly, which was held on February 5.
The trust vote in the Assembly created record with all the members including the dissident group and opposition Congress voting in favour of the leadership of TR Zeliang.
Nonetheless, Noke-led NPF and legislators under Kaito had announced that they would not return but wait for the final decision of the ECI, which will be taken on tomorrow (March 13).
