Dimapur, Oct. 5 (EMN): Continuing the paper war, the youth organisation of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on Friday lashed out at its rival Naga People’s Front (NPF), stating that it is unfortunate the opposition party is trying ‘to mislead the people with their lies and deceits’ instead of playing a constructive role for the state. It added that the NPF party seems to be confused if they are for the welfare and development of the state or only for themselves.
The NDPP youth organisation, in a press statement, expressed surprise over the way the NPF has taken it on itself to continue to condemn and insult the very person (Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio) who was responsible in reviving the ‘cock symbol’, without whom the oldest regional party would not be where it is today.
It said that it is the responsibility of any party at the helms of affairs to bring development for the people.
“Yet, the Naga Peoples Front seems to think that whatever little development they could bring during the last four years of the DAN government under T. R. Zeliang was and is the personal property of the NPF and T. R. Zeliang!” the NDPP youth stated.
Asking if the NPF has forgotten that development is for the people and the state regardless of who contributed what and where, the NDPP youth said what matters most is to ensure that development activities are not stalled. It added that the endeavour of the PDA government is to complete development projects.
The NDPP youth said that any political party can claim to have brought developmental projects for the state, but it is the duty of the government of the day to ensure that those projects are implemented and completed.
It stated the PDA government will ensure that all the past, present and future projects are implemented in toto with transparency, accountability and maintain quality control without bias ‘as to who brought or brings such projects’ for the overall development of the State and the people.
It said that the NPF legislature wing and the party, many of who are contractors themselves, seem to have forgotten that the construction of roads and bridges were affected by the monsoon rains during the last seven months.
While stating that the PDA government has been and will always be positive in its approach towards providing better connectivity to the people, the NDPP youth said that the government does not control the weather conditions and therefore the onset of the early and unprecedented monsoons had hampered its timeline.
It said the government’s number one priority and commitment is to ensure better road connectivity in the state and that the opposition party need not continuously cry hoarse over the issue time and again, but let the government do what was left undone by the previous regime.
The NDPP youth organisation said that the PDA partners are united, and asked if the NPF is expecting a repeat of the mockery that was witnessed in the last House of NLA with its internal power struggle.
It is unfortunate the opposition party is trying to mislead the people with their lies and deceits, said the youth organisation, adding that the NDPP and PDA would not be cowed down by baseless and false allegations. Instead, it intends to uncover the previous government’s misdeeds during the past four years and let the people find out who is right and who is wrong.
It assured that the commitment of the NDPP and the PDA to the people will in no way be affected by the rumours and lies spread by the NPF.
“The Government is focused on delivering maximum development with our slogan of transparency, accountability and good governance,” the NDPP youth assured.
