Dimapur, Oct. 24 (EMN): President of Naga People’s Front (NPF), Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, on Wednesday termed NPF as the ‘Royal Guard’ of the Naga people since it stood for the people and represents the identity of the Naga people.
Speaking during the day-long seminar of the NPF Kohima division at Central Office, Dr. Shürhozelie reminded the people that NPF, the second oldest regional political party in the country was given birth when there was turmoil in the Naga soil.
“The NPF is to protect the Naga identity and to carry forward the aspiration of the Naga people for the early resolution of the Naga political problem, which has been the top most priority of the party,” he said.
Terming the NPF party as not power monger but a party to carry forward the Naga people, Dr. Shürhozelie said that many present Naga leaders have forgotten the political history of the Naga people and run after money and power. He, however, stated that NPF will always stand for the Naga political issue and preservation of the identity of the Naga people. He also added that many Naga leaders tried to form a regional party in the state only to contest the election without its roots and principle and disappeared, which was in total contradiction to the ideology and principle of the NPF party.
The president also called upon the NPF workers to remain firm with their principle and be committed to work for the welfare of the Naga people.
He also urged the party workers to put God at first and stand with the truth, stating that the NPF was not given birth in the Naga soil just for a sheer power and money but to protect and preserve the Naga people.
NPF secretary general and the lone MP Rajya Sabha, KG Kenye, during his speech, informed the gathering that NPF is the only regional party registered in the ECI that mentioned the name ‘Naga’ to signify the Naga people and its identity. He also reiterated that NPF is the party which has given top most priority to resolve for the Naga political issue, adding since its inception NPF is working all out for an amicable resolution.
KG Kenye also asserted that many forces and factors have tried to dismantle and destabilise the NPF.
Thenucho Tunyi, former minister and advisor to NPF president, stated that in any political journey, many temptations might come but urged the party workers to remain faithful and committed with the party principle and stand as a man of integrity to be rewarded one day.
The one-day seminar was chaired by Kruzakie kelio, NPF vice president CoB, while the welcome address was delivered by Guonei-u Sirie, president NPF Kohima division, and the vote of thanks was pronounced by Khrielezo Bio, general secretary CoB.
Meanwhile, NPF Kohima division has resolved to stand firm and support the leadership of Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, NPF president, and TR Zeliang, NPF Legislature Party Leader.
The division appreciated the electorates of Nagaland for bestowing their trust and electing the 26 NPF MLAs in the last general assembly elections thereby making it the largest single party in the 13th Assembly House and urged the Naga people to continue to support the party and its leaders.
The division also thanked the 26 legislators for standing firm with the party and the party leadership and showing their courage showcased in the recently concluded Assembly session.
The division also urged the PDA government to stand true to their promises made to the Naga people regarding the developmental activities, particularly to expedite the ongoing four-Lane Kohima-Dimapur Highway for the welfare of the public.
