Dimapur, May 31 (EMN): Opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) has congratulated Tokheho Yepthomi, consensus candidate of the NDPP led People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA), on his success in the Lok Sabha by-election. The NPF party hoped that he would work with all determination to fulfil the expectation of the Naga people.
The NPF has issued this press release after the meeting of NPF legislature party held on May 31 at the residence of its leader, TR Zeliang, at Dimapur.
NPF party has conveyed profound gratitude to the electorates of Nagaland for extending their support and voting in favour of NPF candidate, C Apok Jamir during the Lok Sabha bye-election held on May 28.
It has acknowledged all genuine voters, though lesser in number, for voting for its party candidate in the Lok Sabha by-elections despite unprecedented proxy-voting and booth-capturing by the PDA alliance which had rocketed the overall voting percentage despite low voters turn-out,
It has also appreciated all the rank and file of the party for the selfless service and sacrifice rendered towards the successful conduct of the by-elections in the state.
It reiterated that the final settlement to the Indo-Naga political issue would continue to be its top-most priority and the same be manifested and pursued by the party with utmost sincerity and commitment until the matter is brought to its logical conclusion.
Meanwhile, the NPF party has denied the statement of the state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, who reportedly stated that NPF party is divided into three groups. The NPF legislature party reiterated and declared that the party would remain united under the leadership of TR Zeliang, leader of the NPF legislature party, and its party president Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu.
