A one-day political conference of Naga People’s Front (NPF) was held at Indoor Stadium, Tamenglong, which was well attended by prominent leaders including president of NPF Manipur unit Awangbou Newmei, vice president ST Beton, ADC Members from Ukhrul, Chandel and Tamenglong, state functionaries of NPF Manipur Unit.
ST Beton, in his address, urged the people of Tamenglong to realise that Naga People’s Front (NPF) is not underground party as many people think but it is regional political party.
“Make the NPF popular in good sense, Naga people should love the party and embrace whenever and wherever party leader come,” he said.
Namsinrei Panmei, Chairman ADC Tamenglong, also spoke on the occasion and urged all people of Tamenglong to vote for NPF ticket in the forthcoming assembly election.
President of NPF Manipur unit, Awangbou Newmei, lamented that Tamenglong lacked in everything. He mentioned that roads are very bad coupled with frequent bandhs and blockades. “It seems there is no government representative in Tamenglong district,” Awangbou rued.
Despite Deputy Home and two other MLAs from the ruling party in the State, he said the condition of poor people remain unchanged. Making scathing attack on national political party, they (national party) often forget the people in villages/ ward after coming to power.
He also spoke at length on Naga Peace Accord and problems faced by general public, development funds and response of the state government.
New members including B Thambou, Member ADC from Houchong Segment, Charles Liangdiyang, Member ADC from Old Tamenglong, and Adim Panmei, Ex- Executive Member from ADC Akhui Segment, were felicitated on the occasion. The oath taking was administered by Awangbou Newmei, President Manipur Unit.
