Dimapur, May 1
The NPF today said that its two party groups have reconciled already and realized that concessions have to be made in the interest of the party’s future and for the interest of the people. According to a statement issued by NPF Press Bureau, NPF president Dr Shürhozelie Liezetsu in his address at the General Convention at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima yesterday said, the ‘reconciliation process’ has started as per the desire of the public and the Election Commission of India.
Liezetsu called for acceptance of reconciliation in true spirit and to rededicate themselves to cover up the damages that have been done to party. “Those who fail to understand the reality of purpose of the NPF party in depth, I will have no regret to grant them leave.”
NPF president informed, “Concerned leaders met on April 27 at Kohima and agreed in principal for reconciliation and for which necessary steps have been initiated, particularly few technical points had to be removed to achieve reconciliation in its true form.”
Noke Wangnao, MLA, NPF, in his speech cheerfully welcomed the reconciliation process and reaffirmed acceptance and support to the November 26, 2014 general convention and all decisions adopted therein, expressing hope that the party (NPF) will remain strong.
Expressing satisfaction that the ongoing reconciliation process could avoid freezing of the COCK symbol, imposition of President’s Rule and disqualification of MLAs, Chief Minister TR Zeliang expressed optimism that the reconciliation process would be successful and that, all forms of divisive or factionalism within the party will be buried for good and never to resurface again.
With the hope that such things would not be repeated in the future, Chief Minister impelled upon all to accept that bygones are bygones and work together for the people in the spirit of ‘forgive and forget’, keeping in mind the party’s (NPF) commitment for resolution of the over six decade old Naga political problem.
NPF Central Hqs. extended appreciation and thanked all NPF Divisions, with special reference to Kohima Division for hosting and shouldering most of the related work load, the 38 NPF MLAs of NLA, both MPs Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and all active members whose participation made the general convention a grand success including Manipur and Aruchal NPF State units. The party also thanked the Indira Gandhi Stadium authority, Kohima district administration, police and traffic control departments.
The convention concluded with vote of thanks by Pusazo Luruo, Vice President NPF and mass prayer.
The statement informed that ‘extraordinary’ or ‘special general convention’ of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has been a grand success which was attended by over fourteen thousand delegates from Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
It was chaired by Working President NPF, Apong Pongener and welcome address by Hukha Yepthomi, Working President NPF.
The programme took off with invocation by Rev Dr Vevo Phesao, Senior Pastor, New Mission Hill Chakesanf Baptist Church Kohima and the Hymn “Blessed Assurance” was sung by mammoth gathering.
