Dimapur, May 28 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has welcomed a decision of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) legislators to pave way to making Chief Minister Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu, also president of the NPF, a Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
The spokesperson of the party Achumbemo Kikon issued a press release on Sunday stating that the NPF was appreciative of TR Zeliang, chairman of the DAN, for introducing a resolution in the DAN Legislators’ meeting that was held on May 26 in Kohima town.
‘The NPF put on record the magnanimity shown by those legislators who have offered to vacate their assembly seats for honourable CM. It expressed its highest gratitude to Mr. Khriehu Liezietsu, ex-MLA for sacrificing his assembly seat in order to pave way for honourable CM to become a legitimate Member of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly,’ the press release stated.
The NPF also lauded the electorate of the 10th Northern Angami-1 constituency for “their sagacity in sacrificing their seat.” The note appealed to them to “let” the chief minister “return uncontested.”
The party appealed further to “all individuals and the various political parties” to extend cooperation for “smooth conduct of the by-election as and when it is conducted.”
Likewise, the organisation has urged the Election Commission of India to schedule the by-elections at the earliest.
‘The party also appreciates the NPF-led-DAN government for reiterating the official stand of the present government that ‘’in the event of an honourable and amicable solution is arrived at out of the ongoing peace process vis-à-vis political talks, the present government will pave way for a smooth transition for the new dispensation to take over’’,’ the press release added.
