Dimapur, Dec. 14: The NPF hoped that the issue arising out of the alleged PDS rice scam comes to a logical conclusion rather than instigating street turmoil, harassing the general public during this peak hour of shopping and preparation for the approaching Christmas and New Year.
In a release issued by its media and press bureau on Wednesday, the NPF, however, said the established legal procedure is mandatory in dealing with any suspected mishandlings, mismanagement or malfunctioning that may arise in case of individuals, groups or companies, as the case may be, who are authorised operators on contract.
The party stated that the purported recent surprise raid on some godowns, stocking Public Distribution System (PDS) foodgrains like rice in Kevijau and Lhumthi colonies, Dimapur, jointly carried out by ACAUT Nagaland with members of Concerned Citizens of Nagaland (CCN) has raked up more of “clumsy rhetoric devoid of anything worth logical or ethical”. The style or method that was adopted to carry out the entire exercise itself has manifested volumes of lawless acts of hatred, frustration, threat and trespassing by the very perpetrators, which are simply unacceptable in the eye of the law, it maintained.
The party said the given situation, since the referred godowns housing PDS foodgrains worth cores (as cited by ACAUT) being sealed off (without the knowledge of F&CS department or FCI) by unauthorised individuals or group of people, mandatorily warrants the proprietor/s or authorised persons or any law abiding, sensible person/s to immediately report such matter to the law enforcing agency for security and prompt necessary action. “This is exactly what R.Z Lotha, M/s. Lotha Trading Company, State Stockists, Food & Civil Supplies, Nagaland had performed,” it added.
