DIMAPUR — The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Women Wing held a state-level seminar in Kohima, while the party also restructured its units in the Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency in Mokokchung on July 10.
The one-day seminar on “Empowering women in politics and leadership” was held at the NPF Central Headquarters in Kohima. Women leaders representing all 60 Assembly constituencies, divisional women wing presidents, and general secretaries attended the event, according to an update.
The first session of the seminar focused on political empowerment and leadership, with discussions centred on the importance of women's education, political participation, leadership development, political literacy, overcoming barriers to decision-making, and creating safe and inclusive spaces for women to engage in politics.
Resource persons for the first session were President of CWW Sano Vamuzo, Working President of COB Ahovi Zhimomi, MLA and Advisor for Water Resources Tongpang Ozukum, MLA and Advisor for Science and Technology Kuzholuzo Nienu, and Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang.

Resource persons for the second session were Advisor to Chief Minister Dr. Chumben Murry; MLA and Advisor for Social Welfare Wangpang Konyak; MLA and Advisor for Industries and Commerce Hekani Jakhalu; and Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture Salhoutuonuo Kruse.
Meanwhile, in the Mokokchung district, the NPF restructured its party units in Waromung village and Alongkima town under the 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency on July 10.

Office bearers of the revamped NPF party units were administered the oath of allegiance, and NPF flags were hoisted at the respective unit treasurers’ residences by 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency NPF President Aodangnok Ozukum, in the presence of MLA and Advisor for Transport and Technical Education Temjenmenba.
The political restructuring in the constituency was carried out following the merger of the NDPP with the NPF in May. It was noted that the formation of the party offices required compromises, as both the NDPP and NPF previously had a strong presence in the constituency.
Speaking at the programmes in Waromung and Alongkima, Temjenmenba discussed the developmental aspects of the constituency, noting that funds had been sanctioned for road construction ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Ao Students' Conference to be held at Waromung village.
On the political front, Temjenmenba stated that the NDPP and NPF merged to protect the interests and identity of the Naga people as a single regional party. He urged grassroots workers to remain active, stating that electorates must support their representative for the constituency to progress.
The President of the 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency, Aodangnok Ozukum, stated that the oath taken by the inductees was a commitment to adhere to party principles and remain loyal to the party flag and leadership.
The 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency NPF plans to conduct similar programmes across other units in the constituency.
