Dimapur, Feb. 5: General secretary of the Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) has resigned from the party citing moral grounds that he was ‘unable to adhere’ to the directive of the party in the matter of municipal and town council elections in Nagaland.
Besupra Swuro, NPF general secretary, issued a copy of a letter to the media stating the resignation.
“With immense sadness and great pain I am hereby tendering my resignation from the post of general secretary, NPF, on this day the 4th February 2017 on moral ground as I was unable to adhere to the directive of the party in the matter of ULB elections in Nagaland,” Swuro stated.
“In the course of tendering my resignation, I have fond memories of my long association with the party throughout my youth and especially cherish my participation in the party activities from 1988-2003 when other made the regional party a subject of mockery but internally the party was truly united and the party workers enthusiastic and in high spirits.”
Besupra Swuro expressed deep appreciation to the party’s leaderships for “inspiring me to join the party and giving me the privilege to actively participate, serve and gain knowledge of regional politics which I shall treasure always.”
