The Shurhozelie led NPF Central Executive Council (CEC) was held today at the party’s Central Office, Kohima and has resolved to convene a General Convention on April 30 at Kohima in compliance with the requirements of the constitution of the party as well as the directive of the Election Commission of India. The CEC authorized the party president Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu to summon the general convention and chalk out the programme and necessary agenda/ agendas to be taken up at the convention.
In compliance with the directive issued by the Election Commission of India on March 27 to settle the internal dispute of the NPF party amicably within the framework of the party constitution, a meeting of the Central Executive Council was held today at the party’s Central Office, Kohima.
After thorough deliberations on the issue, the meeting resolved to appeal to the Government of India and Naga political groups to expedite the process of political dialogue for early solution to the Naga political problem.
And towards this end, CEC appreciated the government under the leadership of T.R.Zeliang for inclusive Government having all political parties and representation in the State.
The meeting reiterated whole-hearted and fullest support to the leadership of party president Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu and chief minister T.R. Zeliang.
It also acknowledged the decision of the Election Commission of India in referring to the Constitution of the NPF Party and appreciated for sending invitation to the NPF Central Office Kohima to attend the consultative meeting of all political parties in the country at Nirvachan Sadan on March 30 at New Delhi.
A statement issued by Huskha Yepthomi, Sebastian Zumvu, Achumbemo Kikon, Zaku Tsukru and B.P Hanghuh said, two representatives of the NPF Party, one from Nagaland and the other from Manipur have been sent to attend the same.
The CEC authorized the party president Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu to summon the general convention and chalk out the programme and necessary agenda/ agendas to be taken up at the convention.
To set the records straight, the meeting felt necessary to bring it to the notice of all concerned that Article XIV of the party constitution reflected in the ECI’s Order dated March 27 be read as Article XV in view of the Seventh Amendment of the Constitution in 2013.
As stipulated by the constitution, the meeting also resolved to set up a finance committee.

Meanwhile, a separate statement issued by NPF Secretary General, K.G.Kenye said, in pursuance to the decision of the CEC, the President NPF has summoned the General Convention of the NPF party on April 30 at Kohima from 11 a.m. onwards.
The issues to be tabled in the general convention include discussion and deliberation on the ongoing crisis within the NPF party owing to the formation of a new group by the NPF dissident.
Secondly, to put to vote by way of raising hand as to whether the General Convention held on 26.11.2014 at Kohima vis-a-vis election of Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu as the president NPF along with new team of office bearers for the tenure 2015-2020 should stand valid or should be treated as null and void.
Furthermore, it was made clear that only active members whose names are enrolled in the party office record as on 12.01.2015 will be allowed to attend and eligible to vote in the general convention schedule to be held on April 30 at Kohima.
The Central Nagaland Tribal Council has appealed to two warring NPF parties, one led by Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu and the other by Noke Wangnao, to come together and reconcile in the spirit of forgive and forget, as directed by the Election Commission of India and also desired by the people of the state.
“The tussle between the two groups of the same NPF ruling party has dragged the whole state, in all aspects, to a chaotic situation, which the people of the state do not deserve. And there is no denial that the state machinery j has come to a virtual standstill owing to this imbroglio,” said a statement issued by CNTC president Hokiye Yeptho.
“The unwarranted paralysis of the state government has emboldened the anti-social elements to create law and order problem and the recent ugly incidents in the state is a clear text book cases.”
Stating that the general public are becoming restless and impatient, the statement said, the overwhelming mandate of the people in the last general election should be respected by all parties of the DAN alliance.
The CNTC said the government of the day should fully function as it is a constitutional and political obligation of the government to provide fair and secure governance to the people.
