Dimapur, Nov. 9: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has termed the list of PDA government’s achievements, announced by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Nov. 8 in Kohima, as “boring.”
The opposition party issued a statement on Friday claiming ‘the reality on the ground is quite contradictory.’ It stated that the NDPP’s ‘deed not word’ slogan could be found in the manifesto of National Council of Nagaland as far as back in 1977.
Taking a dig at Rio's claim that all govt. teachers were mapped digitally to maintain transparency, the NPF stated: “It is far better to pay teacher's salary regularly and looked (sic) into their well beings instead of mapping them digitally, as teachers are the backbone of a strong society, and deserved to be well treated.”
The party stated there was no point providing pink buses “as our Naga women feel more secured and protected travelling alongside men unlike other cities and states across the country.”
“Another issue that has caught the attention of the people is the much acclaimed Mini Hornbill festivals being organised in the district headquarters with much fanfare which is nothing but a poor show indicating that the PDA govt. is not serious enough in its good governance policies, but is prevailing to fulfil its own lust and desires by taking the people for a ride.
“The NPF asserted that celebrating Mini Horbill festivals at a time when Nagas are reeling in distress about sky rocketing price commodities, with literally no roads to travel on, is nothing but a poor flop show of governance on the part of the PDA govt.,” it stated.
