Dimapur, July 21 (IANS): The NPF party organisation that unsuccessfully tried to control the majority of its MLAs to vote against Chief Minister TR Zeliang during the floor test reacted by expelling 19 of its MLAS from the party and suspending another 10 MLAs late on Friday evening.
The expulsion order stated that the MLAs violated the constitution of the party by demanding the resignation of the party president and also violated the party constitution by defying the whip on the floor and are involved in anti-party activities.
It also stated that the "the activities of the following members are found to be threatening the very fabric of the Party. The expelled MLAs are Noke Wangnao, , Shri Y. Patton , C. Kipili Sangtam, G. Another 10 MLAs were also suspended but the order was not specific on the yardstick applied in the disciplinary action that resulted in differing from the action taken on expelled members, who were declared to be "threatening the very fabric of the party".
