Kohima, Nov.13 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Wednesday put up a brave face after 10 of its functionaries led by former president Mhonthung Patton of Wokha division, joined the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), stating that the defection has not created any setback for the party.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, the spokesperson of NPF Achumbemo Kikon said: “As far as the party is concerned, it has, in no way weakened the party set up”. The party is neither “worried” nor “regret” the members leaving the party, he said.
“I can only wish them best of luck in their new venture,” added Kikon.
The 10 NPF functionaries joined the ruling party on November 11 after their resignation letters were accepted by the central office of NPF in Kohima. The reason for leaving the party is “not known”, according to the NPF spokesperson while adding that “everyone has their own difficulties”.
The party, Kikon said, will not be affected at the grassroots level, as it has manpower at all levels. “Even if some people go out of the set up, there is no shortage of manpower. In addition, there are people who will be shouldering responsibility in their place,” he said.
NPF will be conducting an exercise for its new organisational set up during the party’s general convention later this month. Kikon informed that recognised leaders from different fields have expressed desire to serve the party in any capacity. “This is not only confined to Wokha divis
