Dimapur, Feb. 7: Party ticket distribution cum oath taking ceremony of Manipur unit of Naga People’s Front (NPF) for the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2017 was held today (February 7) at Asufii, Mao Gate, Manipur.
Addressing a large gathering including the NPF candidates and party men and women, NPF party president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu said altogether 39 applications (that included 19 office bearers) for NPF tickets were received for 15 seats when the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections 2017 was announced.
He said, with great difficulty, the Ticket Committee sat six- seven times to select the fittest candidates and finally gave all its blessings to the selected candidates to win with the ticket.
Dr. Liezietsu said “Our Chief Minister is very much willing to be here with you today, but because of the heavy schedule in the Headquarters,” had conveyed best wishes to all party workers and selected candidates in particular.
Minister in-charge NPF MSU, Yitachu and the Rajya Sabha MP Secretary General NPF, KG Kenye, also addressed the gathering.
“We come for the development, peace and prosperity of the state. We don’t come with any hidden agenda. So we all know the people of Manipur will embrace our party. See that this is a party which has positive interest for people residing in this part of the country,” Kenye said in his address.
The 15 NPF candidates are Mr Mathiudin Kamei for 40 Jiribam A/C; ST Victor Nunglung for 41 Chandel (ST) A/C; Kh. Armstrong Charanga for 42 Tengnoupal (ST) A/C; K. Leishiy for 43 Phungyar (ST) A/C; Samuel Risom for 44 Ukhrul (ST) A/C; Khshim Vashum for 45 Chingai (ST) A/C; M. Thangboi Haokip for 46 Saikul (ST) A/C; Dr V. Alexander Pao for 47 Karong (ST) A/C; L Dikho for 48 Mao (ST) A/C; K Raina for 49 Tadubi (ST) A/C; L.K. Chongloi for 50 Kangkokpi A/C; Sehpu Haokip for 51 Saitu (ST) A/C; Awangbow Newmai for 52 Tamei (ST) A/C; Janghemlung Panmei for 53 Tamenlong (ST) A/C; and Thongjamlen Haokip for 57 Henglep (ST) A/C.
The selected candidates were blessed by Rev. SK Hockey, Pastor of Pudunamei Baptist Church/former GS MBC, after the NPF tickets were ceremoniously handed over to them.
Earlier, invocation was offered by Rev. Loli Kape, Principal ACI, while introduction and welcome address was delivered by Awangbow Newmai, President, NPF MSU. A special number was presented by Ms Dziiphro and Rev Fr. Thio Themus Lakra, Parish Priest, Punamei, said did the benediction.
