An NPF delegation led by Vipopal Kintso visited displaced Naga families in Makhan village, condemned alleged killings and urged swift justice, relief and rehabilitation.
DIMAPUR — A delegation of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), led by vice president and in-charge of the Manipur State unit Vipopal Kintso, visited Makhan village in Manipur on August 10 and met displaced Naga families currently sheltered there.
In a press release issued on Monday, the NPF press bureau stated that the delegation included NPF vice presidents Kekongchim Yimkhiung and Angyie Konyak.
According to the party, the shelter is home to more than 200 displaced people, including the wives and children of six Naga men who were allegedly killed by members of the Kuki community.
The delegation expressed deep anguish after hearing the accounts of the affected families and witnessing their plight.
The NPF condemned the alleged killings, describing the incident as a heinous and inhumane act, and expressed concern over the reported mutilation of the victims’ bodies.
The party also expressed concern that more than three months had passed since the incident, while no tangible action had reportedly been taken against those allegedly involved. It stated that the names of persons allegedly involved in the abduction had already been submitted to law enforcement agencies.
The NPF demanded immediate and expedited justice, asserting that exemplary action against those responsible was necessary to maintain public faith in the government and the administration of law and justice.
The party further appealed to the Government of Manipur to extend relief and rehabilitation to all people affected by the ongoing unrest in the state in a fair and impartial manner.
It also urged the Government of India to show empathy towards the people of Manipur and intervene wisely to restore peace and harmony in the state.
