Dimapur, Feb. 13 (EMN): President of Naga People’s Front (NPF), Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu today reiterated that solution to the Naga political problem has been the top-most priority of the party and has remained unchanged since creation of the state of Nagaland in 1963 and the inception of regional party in 1964.
“The NPF party has taken several initiatives to facilitate the peaceful resolution of the Naga political issue and shall continue to do so till we achieve its goal,” he said during the NPF election rally of minister Y Vikheho Swu, the NPF candidate of 13 Pughoboto AC, at Pughoboto local ground on February 13.
Addressing thousands of party workers, the NPF president said that the NPF is for the Naga people and thus would only work for the betterment of the Naga people.
Dr. Shürhozelie admitted the 12th NLA had no peace with crisis after crisis that many subjects pertaining to the development and the Naga political issue have been neglected. He said that all the crisis occurred due to some Naga leaders shifting their loyalty for a sheer power and money.
“But now the NPF party with few sincere and dedicated MLAs along with fresh and capable candidates will start a new image, new vision, new programme if the Naga people voted the NPF to power,” he asserted.
Stating that NPF party belongs to the Naga people and it represents the Naga identity whereas the national party BJP belongs to mainland India, he urged the Naga people to judge which party is for the Naga people and which is not.
“Though we play politics, we should not forget our roots and identity,” he added.
He also said that it will not be difficult for the Nagas to differentiate and choose between the “Cock” and the “saffron colour” for their future.
The NPF president also informed that the NPF was alliance partner with the BJP for 14 years but could not agree to seat sharing with it since the NPF knew the consequences would be very negative.
He added that the newly-floated NDPP came forward offering the BJP 30 seats in the 60 house but finally finalised and gave away 20 seats to the BJP. The intention of the NDPP of seat sharing with the BJP is nothing but just to get into power at the cost of the Naga people, he alleged.
However, he maintained no force can break away the Naga people for the Naga people can no longer be fooled by power mongers and asserted that the NPF is prepared to protect the Naga people.
Also speaking on the occasion, minister and NPF candidate, Y Vikheho Swu said the NPF party is not just a mere political party but a Naga-mandated political party which only can deliver development and work for the Naga political cause.
Vikheho also said that election and politics is not just about appointment, contract works, transfer/postings and distribution of money but it is also about bringing infrastructural changes and human resource development.
“Politics is for all round development,” he added.
