Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): Accusing the NDPP-led PDA government for the total breakdown of law and order situation in the state, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has demanded the former to step on moral ground.
The NPF has reiterated the demand for PDA government to step down, while referring to September 21 incident in which one Jiten Gogoi, a truck driver, was found murdered in Dimapur. The NPF has empathised with the kith and kin of the victim in particular and the business community in general in their hour of grief and sorrow.
In a statement issued by its press bureau, the NPF lamented the breakdown of law and order situation in which criminals have the audacity to commit such a heinous crime in the heart of the commercial hub of Nagaland. The party stated that the perpetrators of such crime had demonstrated the sheer contempt and disregard for the government of the day and their law-keeping agencies.
The NPF has attributed ‘persistent failure of the PDA government to enforce accountability and transparency in matters of public security and welfare’ for the deplorable law and order situation in Nagaland.
“The obvious reluctance of the government to censure or discipline criminal negligence and unethical practices in public office or to take stringent measures to curb illegal practices in the society has further emboldened social malcontents and criminal-minded elements to be a law unto themselves with scant respect for the law or the law-keepers,” NPF alleged.
Stating that the latest episode was just another evidence of the bygone fact that the PDA government had completely failed either to provide a controlled and peaceful law and order situation or to provide good governance to the people, the NPF has demanded the ruling government in the state to step down on moral grounds.
Meanwhile, the NPF has extended solidarity with the business community and the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in particular, as well as urged the law enforcing agencies and district administration to spare no effort to arrest the culprits at the earliest.
