Briefing the media persons in Mokokchung on Friday, NPF president of farmers’ wing (central) and in-charge of Mokokchung division, Lanukaba, has called out to the people to cast their vote in favour of NPF saying, “we need a change and stop corruption.”
He has urged upon the people in the district and to all the Nagas to advocate free and fair elections basing on clean election campaign as initiated by ABAM and NBCC.
"We appeal for peaceful electioneering on the polling day request all the political parties and electorates to maintain peace," he implored.
"We would also like to appeal to all the pastors and missionaries to not just come and pray and cast their vote but also sacrifice their time for the polling day by staying back and helping the public cast their vote fairly," Lanukaba said.
He has also appealed to all the presiding officers to maintain free and fair elections on ‘challenge votes,’ stating that proxy voters would be inevitable. Stressing on the necessity for identification and confirmation of voters, he has commended the Election Commission of India for approving alternative photo identity documents.
With the prevalence of poll violence around the state, he has sought the law enforcing agencies to remain alert and maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
While considering the stagnancy in implementation of projects spread across the state, he called upon the people to cast their vote in favour of NPF ‘If the people need a change.’

He further informed that the NPF in Mokokchung division has three young dynamic candidates to contest in the upcoming election namely Imjongwati from 29 Jangpetkong AC; Moasangba from 25 Mongoya AC; and Major Toshikaba from 28 Koridang AC. He stated that those young dynamic leaders would do the needful for a better change.
Meanwhile, Tangit, NPF general secretary (Admn) of Mokokchung division, informed that the party's manifesto was made according to the needs of the present situation. He has lauded the party leader, Kuzholuzo Neinu under whose leadership, the party is strongly moving forward.
Tangit disagreed with the saying ‘the future belongs to the youth.’ On the contrary, he maintained that ‘the present belongs to the youth’ and called upon to give them the chance to govern. He added that empowerment of youth could be achieved only when the NPF is elected to power. Mokokchung, Feb. 24 (EMN)
