Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has warned to initiate necessary action deemed fit beginning from December 1 in the event the State government fails to redress the worsening road conditions in the State.
While appreciating the ongoing four lane road works between Dimapur and Kohima, NPCC president K Therie said the slow pace of work has become intolerable. He claimed that the journey which normally took two hours in the past has now come to take 3 to 4 hours. Besides, he claimed that the road has become danger because of mud which makes it slippery during rains and blinding dust when dry.
While considering the inconveniences both for small cars and heavy vehicles, Therie stated that it is the responsibility of contractors to ensure good roads free from pollution and potholes. He claimed that air pollution created by the dusty roads has affected all roadside hoteliers and dwellers unfit to live in.
Therie has also urged the BRO to ensure normal activities, adding the knee-deep potholes between Dimapur and Chumukedima and pollution created by the roads should be immediately corrected.
Stating that State government should not remain a helpless spectator, he urged all agencies to gear up and restores the road. He has also expressed concerned on the lack of proper drainage.
Therie has also termed as ‘foolish’ for dismantling Walford Bridge without time frame work plan, which according to him was in total disregard for public convenience. He has urged to immediately repair the half Nagarajan bridge for light vehicles.
He has further urged the administration to shoulder responsibility in their respective jurisdictions to ensure road safety, security and cleanliness.
