Dimapur, Nov. 23 (EMN): Alleging that Nagaland has completely failed to maintain public order, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie said the award for the ‘best performing small state’ in the ‘law and order’ category by the India Today and presented by the vice president of India was an insult to the people of Nagaland. He went on to accused the vice president of exposing his ignorance of Nagaland’s situation.
“Whatever may be the criteria of consideration for the award, as far as law and order is concerned, Nagaland state has completely failed to maintain public order,” Therie alleged.
Pointing out that state government is not at all in control, Therie alleged that the state government is under the control of multi ‘self-styled’ governments, adding ransom demands and kidnappings are almost daily news.
“The state government is the last government that the people respect for it has adopted a policy to facilitate and support multi-factions, associations and unions and are allowed to collect tax,” Therie alleged.
He has also condemned the action of India Today misleading the nation. He stated that a government that does not have control over illegal activities does not deserve award. He rather pointed out that state government of the day deserves the award of least control in law and order.
