DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has reacted to the protest staged by the BJYM Nagaland outside the Congress Bhavan in Dimapur on Saturday, hitting out against the alleged “double standards” of the BJP.
In a statement on Sunday, the NPCC termed as “deeply ironic” that the Bharatiya Janata Party, “which once disrupted national events for political mileage, is today preaching lectures on democracy and peaceful protest.”
The NPCC stated that the people of India have not forgotten how, during the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, the BJP and its affiliates openly staged protests that embarrassed India on an international platform.

“Today, when questions are raised regarding the authenticity of a so-called ‘Made in India’ technological showcase—where a Chinese robot was allegedly presented as indigenous innovation—the same BJP suddenly claims moral authority and accuses others of being undemocratic. This selective outrage exposes sheer political hypocrisy,” the Congress stated.
The NPCC also pointed out that the protest carried out by the Indian Youth Congress was aimed at demanding transparency and accountability—values that are fundamental to democracy.
“If the government truly stands for Make in India, then honesty must come before propaganda.
“Instead of staging performative demonstrations in front of the Indian National Congress Bhavan in Dimapur and shouting slogans without facts, BJP leaders should first do their homework and clarify the truth behind the exhibition. Democracy is not about noise; it is about responsibility,” it maintained.
Asserting that political double standards cannot replace truth, the Congress went on to state that the people are watching, and they can clearly see the difference between genuine accountability and manufactured outrage.
