Dimapur, March. 2: The president of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) K Therie has ridiculed sending regional party and independent candidates for the parliamentary elections. The former minister termed it ‘hopeless’ as they only talk of ‘bringing solution but without meaning.’
The NPCC chief was even confident that if the Congress party wins the elections, the Congress would work for ‘one tax-one government’ and free Nagaland’s commercial district from the scourge of extortion.
This remark by the state’s Congress party president was made during a “door to door campaign” (Jan Sampark Abhiyan), at Dimapur-1 assembly constituency on Sat. March 2, at the Children’s Park in Supply colony, in Dimapur.
Therie was confident that if the Congress party wins the Lok Sabha elections, ‘Naga political solution’ would be ‘at hand’ and that the Congress would work for ‘one tax-one government’ and free Dimapur from extortion.
The party president called the Nagaland government ‘hopeless,’ one that only talks of ‘bringing in solution’ but ‘without meaning.’
The NPCC chief called the 60 elected legislators ‘blind men trying to find and elephant.’
“Nagaland living for 21 years without solution is unreasonable and Dimapur has become an extortion camp,” Therie asserted.
The Congress party wants Dimapur to be an ‘electronic hub’ and open economic doors to Myanmar, China and South East Asia, he maintained.
“Congress must win this election and when we do that we can have a representative at the Congress parliamentary committee where we can take decisions and through this we can solve our political and economic problem,” the NPCC chief declared.
The secretary for the NPCC Akavi Zhimomi was addressed the event. In his address to the gathering, he urged the party’s elders and leaders to motivate youngsters to be involved in the party and not to be ‘carried away by outside force.’
Zhimomi affirmed that the party will work together to bring the Bharatiya Janata Party down.
The Congress party, he said, needs to connect with the people and reach out to them by making use of the social media. He said that the Congress party was a major contributor to the nation and the state.
