Dimapur, August 23 (EMN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President K. Therie has expressed sadness at the demise of late Rishang Keishing, former Chief Minister of Manipur who passed away on August 22 at RIMS Hospital, Imphal. In a press release Therie stated that Keishing served as a General Secretary, Nagaland Integration Council, after the 16 Point Agreement and contested as Integration Council candidate and defeated by those who later championed the cause.
Therie said through his illustrious career, Keishing left a treasure of political and historical relations. Therie described that his vast experience in service to the people made him a living dictionary and we shall continue to draw our strength from his legendary spirit which will continue to live on in our hearts.
He further said that Keishing had served the people for over six decades. He was the last surviving member of India’s first post-1947 Parliament and on 13th May 2012 during celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Indian Parliament, late Rishang Keishing was felicitated as the only serving Member of the 1st Lok Sabha by a host of important dignitaries led by the President of India, Therie added. He has conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
