In yet another instance, the NPCC President Shri Thierie has issued shallow accusations on BJP governments as published in local dailies on 10th October 2016 in a visible attempt to highlight his party for the elections. For the knowledgeable, one sees the desperation between the lines as he tries to achieve his target with biased, hooded lies. In the interest of preserving the uprightness of the readers and the society at large from being misguided by such statements and eventually falling into a trap, the BJP Nagaland clarifies on Shri Therie’s points.
The BJP party is a disciplined cadre based party with no avenues for taking democracy and democratic rights to distorted levels to serve only the selfish needs of the vested interests. Rules and guidelines in the conduct of party works and programmes for sustaining and preserving a modern society is strictly adhered to failing which disciplinary actions are swift. In such an environment of party constitutional provisions, there is absolutely no way for party frontals to be engaged in any atrocities against Christians. There never had been a case of anti-christian atrocities by any party branches and departments otherwise which, there would have been a huge hue and cry within the party nationwide.
2. Amnesty International and the International Human Rights Watch Report of 2015 on India mentioned that the year 2013 peaked as the year of the highest escalation of religious violence in the country. The violence was not confined to Christians alone but also among and between major religions in India mainly Hindus and Muslims.
If recalled, 2013 was when the UPA Government was at its peak of mis-governance. The high records of inter religious tensions was because the UPA government was lethargic and failed to take corrective measures smartly for the obvious reasons.
The UPA goverenment’s inaction to curb the 2013 religious clashes was an ill planned and ill timed political vendetta and pre-poll strategy to cast doubt of anti secularism on the highly favored BJP and scare away the voters from BJP in the 2014 elections.
But the failures of the UPA government was not restricted to 2013 alone. Throughout its lengthy decades of misrule, several inter religious clashes took place claiming several lives including Christians. Even on 12th Oct 2008 pope Benedict expressed concern on anti Christian atrocities and called upon the then Congress led UPA government to take intitiatives to curb the menace. But the then Prime Minister only expressed the same in the following National Integration meeting without much further effort to follow up with strong rectification measures. Such was the folly of the Congress led UPA government. The weaknesses and failures of the Congress government to curb and completely rectify such anti religious tensions over a long period of time, helped nurture such anti social behaviours and traits of the society to erupt again and again. Instances are many. But notable for its intensities during Congress–led UPA government are Muzaffarnagar, UP, Andhra Pradesh etc. So much so, that the National Commission For Minorities Vice President Shri Sangliana in a 2010 report stated that the government has taken corrective measures but still need to put a lot more efforts emphasising on more stringent measures to curb such repetitions.
The BJP-led NDA government is not slacking on curbing inter-religion atrocities including those perpetrated on Christians. Prime Minister Shri Modiji had openly declared in November, 2014 at Vigyan Bhawan during the celebration of the beatification of two Indians by Pope Francis, that “My government will not allow any religious group, belonging to the majority or the minority, to incite hatred against others, overtly or covertly. Mine will be a government that gives equal respect to all religions. We cannot accept violence against any religion on any pretext and I strongly condemn such violence. My government will act strongly in this regard. My government will ensure that there is complete freedom of faith and that everyone has the undeniable right to retain or adopt the religion of his or her choice without coercion or undue influence”. The BJP-Led NDA government’s efforts to protect the religious, cultural and regional minorities and weaker sections are always on a war footing. Taking the instances of the plight of the North Eastern region people in large metropolis, the NDA Government through the Delhi Police under the Central Home Ministry had instituted several measures like Special Delhi police forces for the protection of North Eastern people residing in Delhi under the nodal officer of a North Eastern officer, raised a new battalion of police force comprising of youths from all over the north astern states, extra legislation to curb the taunting of North east people on the streets or in the work place, special attention to North eastern issues of safety, security and welfare matters through various government service departments and NGOs, etc.
All these were never heard of under the Congress- led UPA government. Is Shri Therie aware.
3. For the clarification and erasing the doubts of all, December, 25th was marked as “Good Governance day” in 2014 to honor the former BJP NDA Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee and foster awareness among the Indian people of accountability in government whose birthday is also on the 25th December Christmas Day as of Jesus Christ. It was therefore not a religious assault on the Christians as many uninformed people thought or assumed so.
For the BJP, it is not surprising to see many coincidences with Christian dates unintentionally. After all, the Bharatiya Janata Party was also born and launched on 6th April in 1980, on Easter Sunday, with Atal Behari Vaypayee as President. Would Shri Therie find fault in this historic date too?
4. The Judges Conference day is held periodically usually towards the end of the financial year to take stock of the financial accounts of the Courts. The usual 2 to 3 days conference of all the 25 High courts Judges are scheduled by the court administration themselves as per the dates available when the courts are free from litigation duties. The workloads of the judges compel the conference to be scheduled during holidays. Accordingly, in the past also, due to unavailability of suitable free dates, the Judges conferences were also held on important holidays and public events such as on Valmiki Day in 2004, on Good Friday in 2007 and on Independence Day in 2009. It is ridiculous therefore ridiculous blaming the BJP for holding the Judges Conference Day of 2015 on Good Friday.
5. The Fiscal year is not followed on a similar pattern by all the countries. Every country has various periods of fiscal year guided by their requirements. The fiscal year April to March is a British pattern followed mostly by countries of the erstwhile British empire. The reason was to give enough time for the monsoon harvest to come in and taxes accounted besides the frequesncy of major festivals from October to December like, Puja, Diwali, Christmas etc.
Fiscal years are changes as per the economic trends. Usa has a July-June pattern. While most European Christian majority countries like Italy, France, Israel, Mexico, Portugal, Sweden, Sspain has January-December pattern. The BJP government is doing its best to restructure administrative systems to adapt and in consonance with the changing situation of the 21st century in the country and not just because of just narrow religious considerations.
6. Hindi and Sanskrit as ancient literature are rich language with available references to each or any aspect of life, relation and society. It has always been the endeavour to enrich them further along scientific lines to answer to the contemporary needs of modern sciences and technology. While doing so, understanding that language is a binding force for a nation to be united and exist harmoniously, Hindi and Sanskrit has been considered as the first official language of the country followed by English as the second language. However, that does not mean that the nation will forgo and forget the thousands of smaller languages and cultures that is unique in every form. Adequate constitutional provisions have been legislated and implemented through various Arts and Culture and related Departments to preserve, protect, promote, enrich the myriad cultures and languages however small existing in the country. Hindi and Sanskrit as a literature should not be confused with hindunisation just as Chinese should not be confused with Confucianism. These are not measures to change the nation into Hinduism.
The NPCC President Shri Therie should get updated and not be guided by biased and shallow observations thereby coming to all the wrong conclusions, whose distorted versions, which could hamper the values of truth. In case, he is still needs references of other facts and what the BJP-led NDA government has done, the following may be noted. If his obsession is to find fault with the BJP, he may well consider the following facts of the Congress in comparision to the BJP.
While Congress is family based, BJP is organisation and party based. In congress, the leader is by default from Gandhi family and their qualified people can’t take decisions wasting such qualities as of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Every government file had to go to Congress head quarter for Smt.. Sonia’s reference who has no constitutional right to even look into those files. Not so in BJP where qualified people are free to perform to their best capabilities. While Congress could not solve Bangladesh border problem in 60 years, BJP solved it in 2 years. Unlike BJP, in congress, no one dares to speak against Gandhi family even if they are doing wrong. And under Congress, petrol price touched Rs.80 per liter, which is now averaging at Rs.60 per litre, only, the BJP government is keeping it a bit high as they need to pay debt built during the erstwhile congress rule.
Shri Therie may also note that in two years, BJP led NDA government also initiated the following in the areas for uplifting the poor, Women, Youths, educated unemployed, farmers, development etc. To state a few they are, Jan Dhan Yojana, Mission Housing for all, MUDRA Bank, My Gov Online Platform, Digital India, Make In India initiatives, National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, National Sports Talent Search Scheme, National Mission on Teachers and Teacher Training, Enhanced Compensation for distressed Farmers due to crop damage, Soil Health Card Scheme, PMJJBY, PMBSY, APY, Crop Insurance, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyaan, PAHAL-Direct Benefits Transfer for LPG (DBTL) Consumers Scheme, Swachh Bharat Mission, Gold Monetisation Scheme, National Institution for Transforming India (NITI AAYOG), Smart City Programme, The National Urban Development Mission, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana etc.
The list is endless and decades of Congress rule are not comparable to it.
