Kohima, Dec. 11 (EMN): Barely three months left before the next state general election scheduled in early part of 2018, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has launched its website on December 11 at Congress Bhavan.
The website – www.nagalandpcc.org was formally launched by NPCC president, K Therie, in the presence of senior party leaders including former chief minister KL Chishi, former minister ET Ezung and former MLA Lampha, among others. The launching of the party’s website also coincided with the extended executive committee meeting.
In his address, Therie told the party workers to prepare well for the next general election in the effort to bring back the party to power.
“I believe that the Congress party will get absolute majority in the next election. I have no fear, but a firm believe that the people will vote Congress back to power,” the NPCC president said.
Commenting on the reconciliation of the Naga People’s Front, Therie observed that the NPF is in a critical situation, adding that the reconciliation will prove futile. “At present, the party is like a sour acidity,” Therie said stating his doubt of a true reconciliation amongst the party members.
He assured the Naga people that the Congress party will fight against corruption in their push for the next general election.
Meanwhile, Therie also called for young leaders to spearhead the party in the coming general election.
“Except 10/15 percent of candidates, the remaining slots will be given to the youth who will represent the party for the state election. Power lies in the youth and it is time the youth takes the centre stage of shaping a new Nagaland,” Therie said and was confident that the Congress will have the support of the seven NNPGs, NGOs and also the churches.
On the day, the NPCC also organised a reception programme for 13 BJP workers from Mokokchung who resigned and joined the Congress fold.
The resigned BJP workers included S Lepzung Jamir, state BJP president of Narendra Modi Vichar Manch (NMVM); Temjenungsang, state secretary NMVM; Yotensang Tzudir, secretary BJP youth wing, Mokokchung; Pakumzukba Lemtur, president of Asangma unit, BJP; and nine other BJP members.
The website launching programme was chaired by NPCC general secretary, Capt. GK Zhimomi.
