The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee has launched its 10-day mass contact for change tour program from today at public meetings in Pfutsero and Chizami towns. Mikha Kenye, President, DCC, Phek chaired the meetings.
While highlighting the purpose of the tour programme, he challenged the people to come forward and raise their genuine rights. He also appreciated the people of Chizami Range for initiating the recent bandh as a means of public redressal to the electricity supply problem.
Former MLA and General Secretary, NPCC, Medokul Sophie while highlighting the NPCC Roadmap said that the tour was not an election campaign but to have a mass contact with the people and to hear their suggestions to work together to take the Naga people forward and build a Vision Roadmap.
He recalled the year 1972 at Pfütsero where the NNO resolution for Naga political settlement started and said that the Chakhesang people should lead the people in bringing the solution.
Stating that the present government has come to a complete standstill with neither a vision for the future nor any work programme, he said, the elected legislators should not use LADF and MGNREGA funds for garnering votes but for public development activities.
Working President, NPCC, Ayang Aonok while highlighting the interests of successive governments for Naga political settlement right from the inception of statehood till the present government, said that present government has taken a different and confusing stand by offering to resign if Naga political settlement is reached while on the other hand, their party leaders are optimistic that TR Zeliang will continue to be the chief minister beyond 2018 and wondered where the Naga issue is headed to.
He pointed out that for three terms, successive NPF led DAN governments have been indulging by promising a settlement within three months to presenting road shows in all the districts but finally landed in presenting bad roads, unpaid scholarships and salaries and financial deficit in successive state budgets.
Aonok also highlighted the secular, social and democratic principles of the Congress party as against the ‘Communal, Hindu and Dictatorial’ outlook of the BJP-RSS.
Also addressing the meetings, Vice President, NPCC, Vetetso Lasuh called upon the people to embrace the NPCC Roadmap as the People’s vision representing the stand of the Nagas by encompassing the people’s dreams irrespective of political party affiliation.
