NPCC holds Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao meeting in Tuensang, urging workers to protect genuine votes

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) held a meeting on "Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao" at the District Congress Committee office in Tuensang with Congress party workers and office bearers from the Tuensang, Noklak, and Longleng districts on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Observer Puran Chand Padhi, NPCC Working President Apok Jamir, NPCC Vice-President W Akum, NPCC Media and Publicity Chairman Andrew Humtsoe, and NPCC Social Media and Digital Platform Chairman Kumjimong, who addressed the gathering on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the protection of voting rights.
Apok Jamir stated that the campaign is being undertaken across the country to raise concerns over alleged irregularities in the electoral revision process.
He noted that the AICC Observer had travelled to Nagaland as part of the party's efforts to raise awareness and address concerns surrounding the SIR exercise.

He claimed that in Delhi, nearly 50 per cent of votes had been deleted, expressing concern over the scale of alleged voter deletions. He urged Congress workers to thoroughly recheck electoral rolls in their respective areas and take every step to safeguard every genuine vote.
Jamir also thanked party workers from Noklak and Longleng for travelling to Tuensang to participate in the meeting.
In his address, Puran Chand Padhi expressed concern over the functioning of the SIR, stating that the process has become increasingly centralised. He pointed out that booth-level officers previously exercised greater authority at the grassroots level, whereas the present arrangement has concentrated decision-making powers centrally.
He alleged that the SIR exercise was being used to delete the names of voters who do not support the BJP, raising concerns about the impartiality and transparency of the revision process.
Highlighting the importance of voting rights, Padhi stated that the vote is the greatest strength of an ordinary citizen, and any deprivation of this fundamental right amounts to suppressing the voice of the people.
He called upon Congress workers to verify the electoral rolls carefully across all constituencies to ensure no eligible voter is excluded.
