DIMAPUR — Trouble could be brewing for the Nagaland
Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) following the demand of its 60 A/C
Pungro-Kiphire unit to immediately revoke the November 19 order suspending DCC
Kiphire and all its subordinate committees and the elected PCCs of both 59 and
60 A/C for a period of 30 days.
In a letter
to the president of NPPC, the party unit of 60 A/C Pungro-Kiphire further
opposed the recommendation of Lithriyem Yimkhiung’s name for the post of
secretary.
“His
unofficial visit to Kiphire without prior official information to DCC and his
provocative speech addressed to DCC during his anonymous meeting with 59 ACCC,
and when asked by the party workers why the DCC has not been informed about the
meeting, there are witnesses about the misconduct and disrespect to DCC
Kiphire,” the letter read.
Conversely,
it expressed opposition to the suspension of Throngdiba C Sangtam, terming it
unconstitutional and highly objectionable.
“The ACCC
60 A/C shall strongly stand with the present office bearers of DCC and PCC
members and also express our resentment towards the leaders of NPCC for
ignoring the issue and further letting it escalate rather than bringing a
solution that foresees easy manipulation by some vested interest.
“Therefore,
the ACCC 60 A/C, on behalf of all the Congress workers, appeals to your most
respected authority to bring settlement to the issue and also immediately
revoke the suspension order for the larger interest of the public of Kiphire
and for the proper functioning of the Congress party,” the letter stated.
