Dimapur, July 10 (EMN): Barely a day after the Core Committee on Naga political issue adopted a five-point resolution for ‘One solution and one agreement,’ the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has brushed aside the resolution terming as “bereft of feasible and practical directives.”
NPCC’s statement through its president, K Therie, claimed that the resolution has ignored the Framework Agreement and the Agreed Points adding it has insulted the stakeholders.
Therie stated that the resolution was a direct confrontation with the Nagaland governor, who is the head of the state government.
“Appealing to resume talks does not make any sense when the Governor has already stated in the state assembly in the month of February 2021 that talks are over for Nagaland. They have also undermined 24 years of hard negotiations and public suffering by way of multiple extortion,” Therie claimed.
Therie has also questioned the wisdom of the elected members and wondered if “God has taken away their wisdom.”
Therie also claimed that the eloquence of Core Committee was to “delay implementation of solution to save their personal positions and chairs and to please NSCN (IM).”
“NSCN (IM) has cautioned the Core Committee not to dilute the FWA for they only want FWA to be implemented. Implementation will be done by the Government of India. The interpretation of FWA will be done by the Parliament finally, for what is give-able will be realistic solution,” Therie added.
While ridiculing the tall claim of the elected members on their readiness to pave the way, Therie said “If they do it, solution will be there. They only need to cooperate and impress upon the Governor for implementation.”
He further termed the Core Committee “wastage of time and meaningless.”
It may be mentioned here that the Core Committee on Naga political issue held a meeting at Rhododendron Hall, Chümoukedima, in Dimapur on July 9. During the meeting, the members have appealed to the negotiating parties involved in the Indo-Naga political dialogue to resume the peace talks with a positive approach of mutual respect for each other by setting aside pre-conditions in the greater interest of the people’s cry for long-term peace and in order to move forward under a positive environment that is conducive to finding a political solution at the earliest time possible.
The committee members comprised all the members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) and two Members of Parliament (MP).
