Dimapur, June 7 (EMN): Squarely blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for mixing religion with politics and in response to the statement of lone Rajya Sabha MP, S Phangnon Konyak, Nagaland Congress has dared her to prove it by resigning in protest against her party for mixing religion with politics.
Drawing attention to the repeated appeals made by Phangnon to the people of Nagaland “not to mix religion with politics,” NPCC president, K Therie, said her statement exposed her ignorance of who was mixing religion with politics.
“For her information, BJP is invading Christians, Muslims and minorities similarly to Russia attacking Ukraine. If Ukraine stops defending itself, then it loses its existence. If Russia stops attacking, there will be peace. This is the position of Christians and other minorities before BJP in India,” Therie said.
He has referred to the recent statement of a BJP spokesperson, who attacked the prophet thereby earning the ire from the Muslims nations across the world and resulting in the summoning of Indian envoys in multiple countries. He also referred to the media head of a unit of BJP for attacking the prophet.
“The world knows it is BJP who is mixing religion with politics. If you stand by your theme “Don’t mix religion with politics,” then prove it by resigning in protest against your party for mixing religion with politics,” Therie said.
Therie added that she was expected to be fully aware of the persecution of Christians, beginning from Graham Staines and his two sons Philip and Timothy, who were burnt alive by Dara Singh - a member of the Bajrang Dal, one of the frontals of RSS and BJP - before joining BJP.
“You know the roots of BJP that sprouted out of RSS. You are aware BJP MPs have openly declared to eliminate Christians. They have demolished over 395 Churches and Institutions. Pastors and wives were undressed and paraded, Sisters shamed, Holy Bible burnt, Mosques demolished and century old shrines under dispute - all by your party BJP’s Bhakts with the backing of BJP government,” Therie alleged.
“You have consciously joined BJP, an anti-Christian party. Today with your position at the instance of BJP, you are trying to educate Congress not to mix religion with politics. Our answer to you is “Justice for all” is the basis of our fight. We will defend and protect our faith and identity, come what may. Sooner or later we will deliver justice to your fallen brothers too,” Therie added.
