Dimapur, August 21
Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) strongly condemned the attacks on business community members particularly the recent one on August 19 in Dimapur that has generated fear psychosis among the citizens who are left to fend for themselves against the onslaught of nefarious elements.
“Attacks on businessmen have become a routine affair, exposing the fragility of law and order situation in the state. It is very unfortunate that the DAN government chooses to remain mute spectator in the face of this grave crisis. This amounts to complete abdication of its responsibility towards the people and the state,” said a statement issued by Media Cell, NPCC today.
The NPCC said, DAN government headed by Chief Minister TR Zeliang is more concerned about the survival of the ‘opposition less government’ at this juncture that has made huge mockery of democracy before the people and the nation.
The Congress also said, the State Home Minister is more concerned about making back door appointments in police department, while the responsibility of tackling law and order situation has been ignored despite the deteriorating situation with every passing day.
The statement said, “DAN government cannot escape responsibility from their failure to enforce the rule of law in tackling nefarious elements who have literally hijacked the writ of the state. Merely issuing routine condemnation through press statements in local dailies or appealing to people to maintain peace by both the Chief Minister and the Home Minister are just an attempt to shift responsibility that is unbecoming of their position and chair they hold.”
The NPCC strongly demanded the DAN government to wake up from its reverie to salvage the law and order situation or else it should own moral responsibility about its inability to govern and pave way for more capable leaders to rescue the people who are heavily burdened and threatened from all ends.
