DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 10
The NPCC on Thursday clarified that the motive behind its criticism of the proposed meeting between the ENPO and New Delhi was “to highlight the sufferings of the people which have continued for nearly two decades despite being under ceasefire.”
According to an NPCC press release, instead of solving the political problem and showering peace, freedom and security, the government of India and the state government continue to section the Naga society by beating around the bush. “Congress has never been an obstacle nor has objected to ENPOs objectives. We are aware that the ENPO area is underdeveloped, therefore DUDA was set up. During 2013 assembly elections, Congress in its manifesto has proposed to setup mini secretariat at Tuensang to deliver better service to the people of ENPO area, a commitment which was also reaffirmed by Rahul Gandhi, Vice President AICC during his election rally at Tuensang.“ENPO area is still the priority on Congress agenda. Given opportunity to govern, we shall give a honest attempt to correct the wrongs. We also appeal to the MLAs and leaders from ENPO areas to be honest in developing their respective places instead of focusing their individual developments in Kohima and Dimapur.”
