Dimapur, March 23 (EMN): The president of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) K Therie has urged students to play proactive roles against corruption in the state.
On Wednesday, K Therie addressed students of Tetso College in Dimapur. In a well attended programme, the Congress leader said that corruption has been “systemised at every level,” according to a press release on Wednesday. The youth have a major role in initiating and bringing about change for the better, he said.
The Congress leader said that there were ‘a multitude of centrally sponsored schemes given by the government of India which do not reach the intended beneficiaries and that the state’s economy was also in a mess.’
Citing examples of the practice of ‘proxy voting’ by young individuals during elections, Therie called upon the youth to be firm in their ‘moral ethics’ and to participate in a positive way. The future belongs to them and their decision and actions in a few months will determine it, he reminded. He has called for wider participation of intellectuals in politics ‘so that society would benefit from their wisdom,’ the updates said.
Also, Therie pointed to the need for students to develop skills that correspond to the careers they choose. He urged the students to develop the culture of hard work. He said that expecting to be paid without doing any work is a crime against society. He also urged the youths to love the land they come from and to explore and develop opportunities for the future within the state.
The NPCC president also highlighted health insurance, the Naga political problem and economic development, among other issues, in the NPCC’s ‘roadmap.’ Therie said that the way forward to achieving clean governance through a clean government was in the people in their choice to elect ‘God-fearing leaders who will provide a God-fearing government,’ the press release added.
