Dimapur, Feb. 22 (EMN): Putting weight behind the aggrieved Hindi teachers, president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie, has termed on the state government’s inability to pay the salaries of Hindi teachers and putting the blame on the central government ‘pathetic.’
Countering the statement of School Education advisor, KT Sukhalu, that the central government has refused to release salaries as Nagaland’s Hindi teachers are not qualified, Therie stated that such claims needed authentication, saying that the Centre would not starve Hindi teachers to death.
“The Hindi teachers were appointed by the state government after verifying their credentials. Therefore, they deserve their salaries. Screening of qualifications does not arise after having appointed them and utilising their services as Hindi teachers,” Therie said.
Therie added that condemning Hindi teachers and denying their salaries after using their services has exposed the irresponsible government’s inability to protect and defend its employees.
Stating that the chief minister is also minister in-charge of the department, Therie has sought his intervention and pay the salaries without any further delay.
