Dimapur, Nov. 14 (EMN): Road repair works from Notun Bosti to Khermahal via LRC colony, in the heart of Dimapur, seem to have come to a standstill and residents of the locality are irked by the delay.
When contacted, an official from PWD (Roads and Bridges) informed that metalling of the road has been completed. The next step is carpeting, said the source.
“People should remember that till few days ago, we had incessant rainfall which halted the works; apart from that the contractor has to procure mixing machinery and set up a plant,” informed the official.
The official added that the company undertaking the repair work is planning to get the machinery from other companies that are not into bituminous work right now.
“Once the plant is set up, carpeting of cement will be done hopefully in a few days; residents need not worry as the work will surely continue once the plant is set up for further works to be completed,” assured the PWD official adding that bituminous work, “if done in full swing”, will not take even a week.
