Dimapur, Oct. 9 (EMN): Residents of Chuchuyimlang village bade a tearful farewell to modern day ‘Gandhian’ Natwar Thakkar, who was cremated in the village in a solemn programme on October 9. Among those present at the cremation included former state chief secretaries P Tali Ao and TN Mannen.
Thakkar died at Apollo Hospital in Guwahati on October 7 following complained of uneasiness in his body. He was admitted at Eden Medical Centre, Dimapur, since September 11 and was later referred to Apollo Hospital in Guwahati where he breathed his last on October 7.
Founder of Nagaland Gandhi Ashram in Chuchuyimlang in the year 1955, Natwar was conferred the Padma Shree Award for his humanitarian services.
