Dimapur, March 31 (EMN): Traffic policeman Neingupe Marhu from Lasumi village in Pfutsero town of Phek district has been engaging in work that is not just clearing roads of traffic jams: when everyone was leisurely sitting and grumbling about the piles of garbage and trash in the town, the humble policeman had already sacrificed his Maruti Van to collect the town’s waste.
He took up the yeoman’s service after the ‘PTC truck dumper’ stopped being “functional,” according to a nongovernmental organization, the Kalos Society of Pfutsero. The group wrote to the media about Neingupe Marhu on Friday.

According to the updates, Neingupe Marhu was quoted as having said that the service that he is rendering was not for pride or recognition. “What he did was to beautify the town when the town is messed with unhygienic environment with garbage and untidy trashes due to non-functional service of PTC dumper for weeks,” the organisation stated. He is just “thrilled and contented” that he could do something for the society.
“When asked how he managed, he said he is doing freely without any charges; however he accepts free will donations for fueling his vehicle amounting to Rs. 10-Rs. 50 from few well-wishers.”
Even though the money that he receives from well-wishers does not suffice expenditure, he still is contented.
It was informed that Marhu satisfied with his job. Normally he starts his noble service at 6:00 AM in the morning before he goes to his normal duty.
The Kalos Society has laud the policeman for his noble service to the society. “His notable service has laid an ample testimony to the society which deserves a public recognition. He is the ‘real Swachh Bharat hero’. It is worth mentioning that when government officers are using official cars for their smallest personal works, this simple traffic cop sacrificed his humble vehicle just to beautify the town,” the organisation stated.
The organisation has also denounced the authorities in concern for not maintaining the dumper “which has not become functional for weeks due to shortage of tyres.”
