Lower Bayavü Giants, Zienuobadze High Flyers register easy wins

Kohima, March 29 (EMN): Lower Bayavü Giants and Zienuobadze High Flyers registered easy wins in their respective games at the ongoing 4th 10-Northern Angami-1 T-20 Bash 2017 at Kohima Village ground, Ziekezuo on Wednesday. The tournament is organised by Brotherhood Group under the theme “Bat for Unity”.
Lower Bayavü Giants defeated defending champions High School Daredevils by 99 runs in the inaugural match, while Zienuobadze High Flyers defeated Kenuozou Wolves by 8 wickets.

Electing to bat, Giants set a target of 172 runs losing 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Tapitu, who was the player of the recently concluded Silver Cup T-2O cricket tournament, contributed 89 runs for Giants and later was declared as the man of the match. Ino took two wickets for Daredevils.
Chasing the target, Daredevils were all out in 73 runs. Santsuthung scored 25 runs for Daredevils, Thunchamo and SS Alam took three wickets each for Giants.
In the second match, Kenuozou Wolves electing to bat first were all out at 110 runs in 20 overs, with Jabu and Mhajan contributing 27 runs each. Zienuobaze’s bowlers Tali and Alo took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Zienuobadze managed to score 112 runs losing two wickets in 11.4 overs. Aso scoring the highest 49 runs not out. He was declared as the man of the match.
Earlier, Rajesh Soundararajan, Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, the chief guest in his speech lauded the effort of the organizing committee and parliament secretary, Khriehu Liezietsu for promoting cricket in the state.
“Being a cricket player myself, I have seen many time indiscipline play in any form is not tolerated. Sport doesn’t discipline you, the gentleman game doesn’t discipline you, and nothing else will discipline us. Make the best use of this and deliver the best justice to this game, “says Rajesh.
The tournament will continue till April 12, during which 16 teams representing different sectors of the constituency will undergo league matches. After the league stages, the top 2 teams from all the four groups will qualify for the quarterfinals.
