Wins for Themezie-Perizie Titans and Lower Bayavii Giants
Kohima, Nov. 25 (EMN): Themezie-Perizie Titans and Lower Bayavii Giants won their respective league matches at the ongoing 5th edition of the 10th Northern Angami-1 T20 cricket bash played at the KVC ground, Ziekezou, Kohima village on Saturday.
Themezie-Perizie Titans beat Upper Bayavii Sixers by five wickets in the first match.
Themezie-Perizie Titans electing to bowl restrained the rival team at 104 runs all out in 17.4 overs. With Dipebe (20) and Sepichem (17) contributing the highest score for Sixers, while Tali took two wickets in 3.4 overs.
In reply, Themezie-Perizie Titans narrowly chased down the target in 19. 5 overs losing five wickets in the process to register their first win in the tournament.
Toluto Shohe (36) and Tali (20 not out) contributed 56 runs to help the team win the match, while Dipebe claimed three wickets in four overs for Sixers.
Tali of Titans was awarded the man of the match for taking two wickets and scoring 20*runs for Titans.
While in the second match, Lower Bayavii Giants beat Peraciezie Royals by 17 runs.
After winning the toss, Peraciezie Royals elected to bowl and Giants managed to score only116 runs losing all the wickets in 17.5 overs. Meshenti (20) and Tapitu (29) were the highest scorers for the team while Soraj took four wickets in three overs for Royals. However chasing 117 runs, Peraciezie Royals were all out in 17.4 overs at the score of 104 runs. Ejanthung scored 27 runs and Imomemba contributed 17 runs for Royals, while Imomemba took three wickets and Teisovizo claimed two wickets for Giants.
All-rounder Imomemba of Giants was adjudged as the man of the match in the second match. With two wins in the league matches of Group A, Lower Bayavii Giants have the upper hand to qualify for the quarterfinals. It may be mentioned that 16 teams under 10-Northern Angami -1 are taking part in the tournament that will conclude on Dec. 8. While top two teams from all the four groups will qualify for the quarterfinals after playing the league round in the tournament.
