Imphal, May 26 (EMN): Free awareness and counselling programme for admissions to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral program for North east students was organised by Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) Imphal on May 26 at the institute campus.
Inaugurating the programme, Governor of Manipur Dr Najma Heptulla appreciated the initiative taken by IBSD, a National Institute of Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India, for taking special interest for guiding North east students for admissions in higher studies. She urged the students to take up various challenges as they are the future of the country.
While addressing the students, Director IBSD Prof. Dinabandhu Sahoo who is also a Prof at University of Delhi (DU) congratulated the students who have successfully passed their Class XII examinations.
Prof. Sahoo further stated that the students from North east face several problems in big cities during the admissions process and it was hard for the parents who had to bore all the expenses during the process. He said it was better to provide all the information at their hometown in order to minimise the expenses.
In order to help prepare to face the future challenges in the cities, he had invited eminent Educationists and Principals of top colleges of DU to address the problems of the students.
The invited guests were Prof Aditya Narayan Mishra, Prof Prakash Narayan, Dr Pratibha Jolly, Dr P. Hemalatha Reddy, Dr M Arunjit Singh and Dr M Ojit Singh.
At the programme, the students and parents were given individual counselling and information about different courses, admissions process, scholarships and accommodation options for Northeast students in Delhi.
Further, Prof. Sahoo said that more of such programmes would be organise in different parts of North east so that quality education and training could be imparted to North east students. Altogether, more than five hundred students, parents and teachers from different parts of Northeast attended the awareness programme.
