Northeast Frontier Railway recorded a 9.6% increase in freight loading in June, driven by strong growth in cement, coal, and other commodities.

DIMAPUR — Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) successfully loaded 0.968 million tonnes (MT) during June, reflecting a 9.6% increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.
An update from NFR chief PRO, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, stated that several commodities recorded significant growth in freight loading compared to the same period last year.

He stated that cement loading recorded a 53.1% increase, coal loading rose by 37.5%, fertiliser loading grew by 9.1%, POL loading increased by 41.7%, container loading increased by 11.1%, and other loading recorded a hike of 36.2%.
Additionally, in other segments, stone chips registered a notable rise of 275% compared to the previous fiscal year.
It mentioned that the consistent growth in freight loading reflected rising economic activity in the region. It added that the upward trend has not only strengthened the region’s economic landscape but also contributed significantly to NFR’s revenue.
It further stated that NFR remains committed to technical advancements aimed at enhancing service reliability and efficiency, ensuring sustained growth in freight transportation.
