Northeast Frontier Railway introduces Linke Hofmann Busch coaches on Balurghat – Howrah express

- DIMAPUR — Northeast
Frontier Railway (NFR) introduced LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches for the
Balurghat – Howrah Express, enhancing passenger safety and comfort.
- The upgraded train was flagged off on March 30 at Balurghat
Railway Station by Dr. Sukanta Mazumdar, Union Minister of State for Education
and Development of North Eastern Region and Budhrai Tudu, Member of West Bengal
Legislative Assembly, along with senior railway officials, an update from NFR
stated.
- In his address, Majumdar highlighted the government's
dedication to improving railway infrastructure in West Bengal. He emphasised
that the introduction of LHB coaches on trains originating from Balurghat will
significantly boost rail connectivity and contribute to the socio-economic
development of the region.
- According to NFR, The transition from conventional ICF
coaches to LHB coaches marks a major milestone in railway development. These
modern coaches are designed to offer enhanced safety features, including an
anti-telescopic structure that prevents serious damage in case of collisions.
- Passengers can also experience greater comfort due to
advanced suspension systems, ensuring a smoother journey. “Additionally, LHB
coaches are capable of operating at higher speeds, thereby reducing travel time
while providing aesthetically improved interiors for a pleasant travel
experience,” it stated.
- “Passengers can now look forward to a safer and more
comfortable journey, as the LHB coaches are equipped with modern amenities and
are designed to minimise the impact of accidents. This initiative underscores
Indian Railways' unwavering commitment to passenger safety and service
excellence.”
