Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): To induct new vendors and enhance the product range of existing vendors, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) hosted a vendor meet in association with Chittaranjan Locomotive Works at Rang Bhawan, Maligaon in Guwahati.
More than 225 participants representing 153 vendors from different part of the country attended the programme.
Addressing the gathering during the inaugural programme, member (Materials Management), of the Railway Board, V P Pathak stressed on the need of having more for effective train operation .
He expressed hope that holding such meetings in the region would help in increasing vendor-base for supply to Railways.
Advisor (Railway Stores) R. K. Vyas said Vendors are required to prepare themselves to meet challenges arising out of induction of modern coaches/rolling stock and other assets with latest technology in the railway system.
Additional general manager of NFR, Radhey Raman stated that the Railway network is expanding very fast in North-eastern region connecting the capitals of the states which necessitates availability of adequate vendors in the region to meet the higher demand for spares.
The vendors participated in the meet were very enthusiastic about getting associated with procurement system of Indian Railways which was very much evident from their active participation in the interactive session of the program.
