Northeast Frontier Railway commissions new bridge in Rangiya Division
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has successfully commissioned Bridge No. 603 between Kathal Pukhuri and Silonibari Railway Stations of Rangiya Division
- DIMAPUR — The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR)
has successfully commissioned Bridge No. 603, a newly constructed 2x30.5 open
web girders span structure between Kathal Pukhuri and Silonibari Railway
Stations, in the BG-3 section of Rangiya Division (RNY).
- In a press release, the NFR stated that the passage of the
first train over the bridge marks a significant achievement in strengthening
railway infrastructure and enhancing safety in the region.
- The previous bridge had deteriorated over time necessitating
speed restrictions (SR) that impacted both operational efficiency and train
punctuality. To ensure seamless and secure trains movement, the old structure
was replaced with a modern, high-capacity bridge with a larger span, improved
water flow and reducing track damage in the surrounding area.
- The new bridge will eliminate speed restrictions, improving
train operations, thereby enhancing the efficiency of both passenger and
freight transportation.
- “This critical infrastructure upgrade is set to reduce
travel time and improve operational reliability in the section. With its
commissioning, NFR reaffirms its commitment to providing safer, faster and more
efficient connectivity for both passengers and freight services,” the release
stated.
- The NFR also informed that the successful completion of
Bridge No. 603 is part of NFR larger modernisation initiative, aimed at
replacing aging and distressed bridges with stronger, more resilient
structures.
- “This effort aligns with the broader goal of strengthening
railway networks nationwide to meet the increasing demand for faster and more
reliable rail services.
- “Beyond improving train operations, the new bridge will also
enhance connectivity for local communities and industries, fostering regional
economic growth,” it added.
