The five-day North East NSS Festival 2026 concluded at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, on July 31.
DIMAPUR — The five-day-long North East National Service Scheme (NSS) Festival 2026 concluded on the theme “Viksit Bharat” at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma, near Kohima, on July 31.
According to an update, more than 300 NSS volunteers from eight northeastern states of India joined the festival, which started on July 27.
Addressing the valedictory programme as the special guest, Roko Angami, OSD (Sports) in the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, maintained that the Northeast is a crown jewel of India, rich not only in biodiversity and culture but also in immense human potential.
He urged the NSS volunteers to embrace a sense of purpose and set clear goals, affirming that Viksit Bharat is fundamentally about empowering youth to shape the country's future. Roko stressed the need to put in collective efforts to build a developed nation.
He also called upon the gathering to respect cultural heritage, protect the environment, and use technology for the welfare of society.

In the folk dance competition, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam were declared the first-, second-, and third-position winners, respectively.
Assam bagged the first position in the PowerPoint presentation, while Tripura and Sikkim stood in second and third positions, respectively.
In the extempore speech competition, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland bagged first, second, and third positions, respectively.
Nagaland bagged the first position in the folk song competition, while Meghalaya and Manipur were the joint holders of the second position. Assam stood in third position.
Roko Anami, along with D Carthigueane, Regional Director of NSS, North Eastern Region, and Ruokuovituo Zatsu, State NSS Officer, Nagaland, gave away prizes to the winners.
The festival was organised by the State NSS Cell Nagaland and hosted by Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma, in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of NSS, Guwahati, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
